17, 2025 and in Bamako on September 23 &amp; 24, 2025.<\/strong>\n          <br\/>\n        <\/p>\n\n<p>The Gambian capital, <strong>Banjul<\/strong>, hosted a national workshop organized by ROGEAP on the implementation of regional off-grid solar photovoltaic standards, from September 16 to 17, 2025, and the Malian capital, <strong>Bamako<\/strong>, from September 23 to 24, 2025.<\/p>\n\n<p>The opening ceremony was attended by :<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Mr Kemo Cessay, Director of Energy<\/strong> representing the Gambian Minister of Petroleum, Energy and Mines; <strong>Mr Papa Secka,<\/strong> Director General of the Gambian Bureau of Standards and <strong>Mrs Miata French<\/strong>, ECOWAS Permanent Representative in The Gambia.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mr Bakary Sacko<\/strong>, Vice-President of the Malian Federation of Electricity, Renewable and New Energies (FENEM), <strong>Mr El hadji Sylla<\/strong>, Senior Advisor of ROGEAP.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>The two two-day workshops were attended by some fifty participants from the two capitals, drawn from the public sector (executives from the ministries of energy, finance and trade, rural electrification agencies, renewable energies, standardization), the private sector and civil society, among others.<\/p>\n\n<p>At the end of this awareness-raising and capacity-building workshop, participants should have a good understanding of the quality standards for off-grid solar products (ECOSTAND IEC TS 62257-9-5 and ECOSTAND IEC TS 62257-9-8);<\/p>\n\n<p>They also learned about definitions, international quality standards and test methods for off-grid solar products and systems;<\/p>\n\n<p>Finally, they will be able to provide accurate information to other relevant stakeholders about the two adopted standards, and to raise awareness among the general public.<\/p>\n\n<p>As a reminder, the ECOWAS Commission, through the Regional Off-Grid Electricity Access Project (ROGEAP), is supporting the 19 countries in the project to increase the rate of access to electricity for households, businesses and public institutions through modern stand-alone solar systems, using a harmonized regional approach. <\/p>\n\n<p>ROGEAP is a project funded by the World Bank, the Clean Technology Fund (CTF) and the Directorate General for International Cooperation (DGIS), and implemented by the ECOWAS Commission through the Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Digitization and BOAD.<\/p>\n\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;
