Regional capacity-building workshops for experts from ROGEAP member states on standards for solar home kits with a capacity of up to 350 watts.

As part of the implementation of the Regional Off-Grid Electricity Access Project (ROGEAP), the ECOWAS Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Digitization is organizing a series of regional capacity-building workshops for Experts from the States covered by the said project on standards for solar home system kits.

Niamey in Niger, Lomé in Togo and Accra in Ghana are the three cities selected to host the regional workshops in May 2023, which will be led by experts from ROGEAP, the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) and VERASOL, a diverse network of organizations, institutions and programs set up to improve the quality and availability of modern off-grid solar solutions worldwide.

Niamey, the capital of Niger, will host the first regional capacity-building workshop for the first group of French-speaking countries from May 03 to 05. This will be followed by the second, from May 09 to 11 in Accra, Ghana, for the English-speaking group, and the third, from May 16 to 19 in Lomé, Togo, for the second group of French- and Portuguese-speaking countries.

The main objective of this activity is to provide the necessary technical assistance to experts from Rural Electrification and/or Renewable Energy Agencies and Standardization Agencies in charge of off-grid in ECOWAS Member States for capacity building on the draft standards ECOSTAND CEI TS 62257-9-8:2020 and ECOSTAND CEI TS 62257-9-5:2018, related to off-grid solar home systems up to 350Wp and their laboratory test method.
