WAPP (West African Power Pool) and ASEA (Association des Sociétés d’Electricité de l’Afrique) have joined forces in a landmark agreement to boost energy integration across Africa. This strategic partnership is committed to eliminating redundant activities and optimizing benefits for their respective members.

The MoU establishes a solid framework for collaboration over a six-year period, setting up a cooperation committee and regular meetings to ensure effective follow-up. Areas of cooperation cover a wide range, from strengthening institutional links to developing specialized training programs and exchanging valuable technical expertise.

The primary objective of this alliance is to jointly stimulate research and development, promote knowledge management and support the development of training centers in the electrical field. By working together, these two institutions aspire to promote a culture of innovation and excellence in the energy sector.

This strategic partnership represents a significant step towards closer energy integration on the African continent, fostering sustainable development on a regional scale.

During the signing ceremony, the two (2) Heads of Institution underlined the importance of capacity building and human capital development in the success of electricity integration in Africa, and insisted on the development of WAPP’s Regional Centers of Excellence to enable them to effectively take charge of training players in the electricity sector.
