O ROGEAP sensibiliza e forma os principais intervenientes em matéria de normas regionais para sistemas solares autónomos com uma capacidade igual ou inferior a 350 Wp.

Bissau: ROGEAP popularizes, raises awareness of and trains key players in regional standards for stand-alone solar systems up to 350 Wp (ECOSTAND IEC TS 62257-9- 8 :2020 and ECOSTAND IEC TS 62257-9-5 :2018).

Bangui, (September 09, 2025).

The capital of Guinea-Bissau, Bissau, hosted a national workshop organized by ROGEAP on the implementation of regional off-grid solar photovoltaic standards.

This workshop, organized from October 29 to 30, 2025, is the logical continuation of a series of workshops in the 19 countries covered by ROGEAP.

The opening ceremony was attended by the authorities of Guinea-Bissau and ECOWAS, represented by the ROGEAP Senior Advisor, representing the President of the Commission.

At the same time, Mr. El Hadji Sylla reiterated the project’s commitment to helping countries effectively adopt the standards adopted by the ECOWAS Council of Ministers.

This two-day workshop, which brought together over thirty experts from the public and private sectors, finance and trade ministry officials, civil society and SMEs, among others, is a logical follow-up to the workshops held recently in other countries.

At the end of this awareness-raising and capacity-building workshop, participants should have a good understanding of the quality standards for off-grid solar products (ECOSTAND IEC TS 62257-9-5 and ECOSTAND IEC TS 62257-9-8);

They will also learn about definitions, international quality standards and test methods for off-grid solar products and systems;

Finally, they will be able to provide correct information to the other stakeholders concerned about the two standards adopted and to raise awareness among the general public;

As a reminder, the ECOWAS Commission, through the Regional Off-Grid Electricity Access Project (ROGEAP), is supporting the 19 countries in the project to increase the rate of access to electricity for households, businesses and public institutions through modern stand-alone solar systems, using a harmonized regional approach.

ROGEAP is a project funded by the World Bank, the Clean Technology Fund (CTF) and the Directorate General for International Cooperation (DGIS), and implemented by the ECOWAS Commission through the Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Digitization and BOAD.
