National workshop on the business model for the electrification of public institutions (education and health) in Nigeria

More than thirty participants from the Federal Ministries of Energy, Health, Education and the Budget, as well as agencies specialising in the energy sector in Nigeria, met on Thursday 20 February 2025 in Abuja at the initiative of ECOWAS, as part of the implementation of the Regional Off-Grid Electricity Access Project (ROGEAP).

The aim of this important meeting is to present to the various stakeholders the results of feasibility studies into the electrification of 15 health centres and clinics in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nasarawa and Niger states using solar photovoltaic technology. ROGEAP took this opportunity to present the business models for the sustainable financing of the works, as well as their implementation strategy.

ROGEAP is jointly funded by the World Bank, the Clean Technology Fund and the Government of the NETHERLANDS, through the Directorate-General for International Cooperation.

As a reminder, on 26 September 2024, an awareness-raising forum was organised to mobilise all stakeholders involved in the electrification of public institutions, particularly schools and healthcare facilities in Nigeria.
