Training for SMEs in the off-grid solar photovoltaic sector in Nigeria

Training of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in the Off-Grid Photovoltaic Solar Sector in Nigeria: ECOWAS in collaboration with Ecobank Nigeria and with the support of the World Bank builds the capacity of more than 50 entrepreneurs (March 10, 2025, Abuja, Nigeria).

The ECOWAS Commissioner in charge of Internal Services, Professor Nazifi Abdullahi Darma officially launched this Monday, March 10, 2025 in Abuja, Nigeria, on behalf of the President of the Commission, His Excellency Dr. Omar Alieu Touré, a capacity-building workshop for more than 50 Small and Medium Enterprises in the off-grid solar photovoltaic sector.

The training, which is part of the implementation of ROGEAP project activities, runs until March 12. At the end of this capacity-building workshop, recipients will have :

ü A good understanding of the ROGEAP subsidy mechanism and access to funding;

ü A good command of off-grid solar photovoltaic technology, the quality assurance framework (standards) and environmental and social aspects;

ü Tools for developing business models and market expansion strategies,

The Ecobank Nigeria representative reaffirmed the pan-African banking group’s readiness to support the sector and strengthen its collaboration with the ECOWAS Commission.

ROGEAP is a project jointly funded by the World Bank, the Clean Technology Fund and the Netherlands Directorate General for International Cooperation, and is being implemented by the ECOWAS Commission’s Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Digitization for its Component 1 (Developing a regional market for stand-alone solar systems). RO-GEAP covers 19 countries, including those of ECOWAS.
